Galería Marta Cervera has the honor to present PAPER/DRAWING/ENIGMA, a group exhibition featuring works by Nadia Barkate, Ludovica Carbotta, Alejandro Corujeira, María Gómez and Ángel Vergara. The show will be on view from December 1, 2022, until January 21, 2023.
Paper, heir to stone, clay, papyrus or parchment, has been for hundreds of years the necessary and privileged support of our evolution.
When we write, we draw. When we draw... do we write? It has been on paper, without doubt, where word and image have met in the most intimate and fruitful way. Paper offers a ductility that makes it an ideal accomplice for the spontaneous expression of ideas and forms. Paper... The mere consideration of the word "paper" displays an immense range of connotations, questions and possibilities.
Indeed, paper remains today, when the materials, formats and techniques available to the artist have multiplied, a temptation or need full of meaning.
In this exhibition, five artists offer us a sample of their work on paper, plus a three-dimensional work that establishes its own space. This allows us to approach each of them in one of their facets (which may be more or less predominant in the whole of their work) while establishing a dialogue: five points of view, too, from where to place the whole.
The space we enter will be a physical place and a mental place, a dynamic dichotomy, with multiple heads (plane and volume, power and virtue, idea and matter...) generating the tension itself -the enigma- where art is incubated.
